We had a fantastic discussion at the “Triggers” forum on March 14th. “Triggers: A Critical Conversation About Guns and Mental Health in America” was hosted by MEG and the McGovern Center, featuring a conversation between John Gruber, a consultant for the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence and former senior organizing manager for the Brady Campaign and Glen Caroline, director of the NRA-ILA Grassroots Division (joining via livestream). Also participating that night was Matt Christiansen, clinical psychologist with Avera Medical Group and expert in teen and community mental health.
We are truly appreciate to all those who attended and participated in this important discussion. At the McGovern Center, we believe it is critical to the health and success of our students and community to be able to have respectful, engaged dialogue around issues that can feel difficult and sometimes polarizing.

Students also put together a memorial, as March 14th was the one-month anniversary of the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.
